Live Without Regret
“I don’t depend on my own strength to accomplish this; however, I do have one compelling focus: I forget all of the past as I fasten my heart to the future instead. I run straight for the divine invitation of reaching the heavenly goal and gaining the victory prize through the anointing of Jesus.”
Philippians 3:13-14 TPT
If you live long enough, you will discover that regrets are part of life. Some may be big, others small, but they come with the territory of making decisions. Every day, we face choices. Many people avoid making them or blame others when they do, and that’s one reason so many struggle. The truth is,self-determination and self-discipline to make tough choices are what separate winners from losers, success from failure.
When I look back, one regret I have is not playing tennis in middle or high school. I loved the sport, but my focus was on basketball at the time. Now, at 46, I’ve played tennis recreationally for the last 25 years, but I often wish I had started earlier. Maybe I could have played at the college level, maybe even opened different doors in my life. But this regret doesn’t haunt me; it’s not one that drastically altered my path.
In fact, I don’t live with many regrets. I credit that to my faith in God and His leading. I’ve not been perfect, but I strive every day to do His will. The Holy Spirit gives me peace and assurance that I am where I need to be. I have learned not to push doors open in my life, but to allow God to present the right doors to me. I truly believe this daily decision is why I can live without regret.
So, I encourage you: let go of past decisions and regrets, whether big or small. If you’re not already allowing the Holy Spirit to lead, guide, and direct your life, start today. Give Him full control and follow His leading. I promise you’ll never regret it.
